Namesake: Officer Ashley Guindon Officer Ashley Marie Guindon assisted the Marine Corps Mortuary Affairs Office while serving in the Reserves, worked as a pre-hire with Prince William County Police Special Victims Unit, and volunteered with the Suicide Prevention Program. She served on the Prince William County Police force for 8 months before she was shot and killed on her first day on the street on February 27, 2016 when she and two other officers responded to a domestic dispute. Namesake: Ventura County Fire Dept. FRK9 Caye (pronounced kie-ya/kay-ya) is named for the Ventura County Fire Deptment and all those that fought the Thomas Fire on San Cayetano Mountain. Namesake: Lieutenant Eric Eslary FRK9 Eric is named after Lt Eric Eslary who was a 17 year police veteran and established the Ligonier Township, Pennsylvania's K-9 Unit. He loved what he did and the community loved him and his partners. His current K-9 partner Blek, was with him when he was killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver and would not leave his side. Kevin Holmes FRK9 Holmes is named in honor of Second Lieutenant Michael Kevin Holmes who served 33 years as a police officer and supervisor with the Fairfax County Police Department. Namesake: Sergeant Lenore Barrow Whitehead FRK9 Lennie is named after Sergeant Lenore Whitehead who served with Newport News Police Department from January 10, 1984 – October 1, 2007. Sergeant Lenore Whitehead’s exceptional police work throughout her career earned her the Supervisor of the Year Award in Jan 2007. Sergeant Whitehead was known for her integrity and dedication to her career. Namesake: Sheriff Preston Scott Williams. Mr. Williams was elected Sheriff of York County, VA in 1983. As Sheriff he established the DARE Program, SWAT Team, Bike Patrol, and K9 Unit. He was admired by the citizens of York, and his Deputy’s alike. In addition to being the impactful community leader, and Law Enforcement Official, Sheriff Williams also spent 33 years as a State Trooper, and served his country in the United State Marine Corps.
